It is the perfect spring project in our science lab. The students are using the scientific process to identify the growth rate of the chicks over a four week period. They created their hypothesis based on the percentage of growth that they predict will occur in both height and weight. Each group will continue to work with the same chick throughout the project and take measurements twice a week. The weight is measured in grams using a triple beam balance and the height is in centimeters. They are working with the controlled variables of habitat, temperature, and food.
