One of the amazing characteristics of echinoderms is the water vascular system. Students have been studying the structure and flow of the water channeling through the sea star. In this dissection the children cut through the spiny calcium plates and had the opportunity to observe how the water starts at the madreporite and continues to the ring and radial canals and filling the podia or tube feet. They were inquisitive and engaged throughout the dissection lab. Such a great day in science!
