Insect Specimens

Students engage and explore sixteen different species of insects from around the world. We are able to identify the physical characteristics that insects possess in order to gain energy, defend themselves and reproduce. Observing real specimens allow the children to gain perspective of how large some insects can be from areas such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and South America. Notebook entries were made with anatomical labels and directions; anterior, posterior, dorsal and ventral. Favorite insects were the rhino beetle, fancy pants walking stick, and dead leaf mantid.
